So i know the only way to do this is to apply for the tourist visa when not in Australia.
Has anyone ever successfully done this? How (un)likely is it to be granted the visa? The Immigration Department is a bit unclear on all of that.

My partner and i are going travelling next year and we are will be in australia when we are applying for a terms job in america (We have alresady contacted the company and told us we can not apply until the May of next year). IS it possible for us (UK citizens) to go to a U.S. embassy in australia to apply for an american visa? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
